MCA ‘F’ division 25 Over League Tournament

Chinthaka Chathura from MAS Kreeda hogged the limelight as the first double centurion in the ongoing second Fairfirst Insurance Trophy – MCA ‘F’ Division 25 Over League Tournament 2019, which continued last weekend on 15 and16 June.

Opening batsman Chinthaka Chathura’s belligerent 201 in 77 balls, including 21 mighty sixes and 12 fours, helped MAS Kreeda amass 290 for six in 25 overs and beat HSBC ‘C’ by 52 runs on the DLS method.

Other noteworthy batting performances came from Sanoj Kasun (78) and Manoj Abeysinghe (71) from SAGT, which propelled them to an 81-run win over Union Bank.

Sponsor Fairfirst Insurance managed a drama-filled single run win over Allianz Insurance, staying unbeaten with their fifth win on the trot.

Allianz chasing a total of 143 in 25 overs, had to score eight runs to win in the last over, and tied the game in the last ball taking two runs (142), only to find the second run short.

HNB ‘B’ ended Brandix Essentials ‘B’ unbeaten run after four successive wins, defeating them by four wickets on the DLS method; thus HNB ‘B’ registered their fourth win on the trot; but unexpectedly lost their first game to Avery Dennison by three wickets.
