MAS Unichela, making a comeback to MCA Cricket scene after a while, will be seeking sweet revenge over 3DH International “A”, playing first time in this league in the MCA Premier League Final 2023, today (6 June) at the MCA Grounds, commencing 10:00 a.m.
The Final was originally scheduled to be played on Sunday, 4 June but had to be put forward, as the finalist requested for a postponement, due to the unavailability of their players engaged in the ongoing SLC Major Club T+20 tournament.
At the completion of the round robin stage, MAS Unichela finished as No. 3 and 3DH International “A” as No. 04 in the points table, behind Maliban Biscuits (No. 01 ) and Singer Sri Lanka “A” (No. 2)
In their league outing, 3DH International “A” beat MAS Unichela by 05 wickets on 17 May at the Bloomfield grounds; on that day, MAS Unichela batting first fell like 09 pins, as 3DH bowlers, Ashian Daniel (8/3/7/5), Lohan de Soysa (6/22/3) and Sachindu Colambage (2/5/2) skittle them for a paltry 89 runs in 23 overs.
In the Semi Finals, 3DH International “A” eliminated table top, Maliban Biscuits by 06 wickets whilst MAS Unichela eliminated Table No. 02 Singer Sri Lanka “A” by 07 wickets.
The match winners for 3DH were their bowlers Ashian Daniels (10/24/04) and Niranga Wickramage (10/19/02) who restricted Maliban Biscuits to 118 runs in 45.2 overs before winning by 06 wickets.
The match winners for MAS Unichela were, centurion, Tharindu Amarasinghe (110 in 104 balls, inclusive of 02 sixes and 11 fours) and Yohan Perera (67 not out in 86 balls, inclusive of 05 fours) who were associated in a 155 runs partnership for the 03rd wicket.
The MCA appointed Match Referee is Nilliah Devarajan.
