MAS wins Mercantile Swimming Championship for 9th successive year

The MAS Holdings team, with a grand tally of 864 points, emerged the winners of the 2019 Mercantile Swimming Championship to walk home with the President’s Trophy, after action concluded last Sunday at the Thurstan College Swimming Pool Complex. 

This is the ninth successive time that the MAS Holdings team clinched the President’s Trophy. Meanwhile, JKH were the first runners-up with 569 points while the Hemas Holdings team, which accumulated 392 points, emerged second runners-up. Around 600 swimmers from more than 35 mercantile organisations took part in this year’s Mercantile Swimming Championship, organised by the Thurstan College Aquatic Club in association with the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union for the 13th consecutive year.   The Chief Guest at the occasion was Sampath Bank Senior Deputy General Manager Tharaka Ranwala while Thurstan College Swimming Pool Complex Founder Gratian Gunewardane was the Guest of Honour.
