The event which was organised by the MBA under the auspices of Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) saw 114 teams from top firms in action under eight divisions and 27 categories.
More than 425 players took part in the championships and a total of 580 matches were conducted during 10 days of competitions, starting from 6 March before culmination on 4 April.
HNB emerged champions in three divisions and also finished runners-up in five divisions to bag a total of 203 points. Seylan Bank, who collected 137 points throughout the championships, won five divisions. McLarens Group won the Masters and Men’s D Division titles while finishing runners-up in two other divisions as they collected 106 points.
Hayleys, who bagged the Men’s A Division title while finishing runner-up in the women’s A Division, were placed fourth with 88 points while Commercial Bank also did well to secure the fifth spot with 73 points.
Specialist in Human Kinetical and Sports Medical Science Dr. Asanga Wijerathne attended the final day’s proceedings as the Chief Guest while Flex Sportsware Managing Director Sanjeewa Akuratiya was the Guest of Honour.
Mercantile Badminton Trust Chairman Gamini Jayasuriya, SLB Treasurer Mangala Gamage, SLB Coaching and Marketing Committee Member Chinthaka Fernando, HNB Chief Operating Officer Dilshan Rodrigo and Airport and Aviation Services Director Aruna Sri Warusahennadige were also among special guests at the presentation ceremony.
