MCA ‘D’ Division 40-Over League semi-finals on Sunday

The unbeaten, HNB Finance and Teejay Lanka together with Central Finance and Power Hands Plantations advanced to the semi-finals in the fifth Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. sponsored, CBL Munchee Trophy – MCA ‘D’ Division 40-Over League Tournament 2025.

The quarter finals of the tournament were played on 12 and 13 January.

The two quarter finals played on Sunday between Colombo Dockyard vs. Power Hands Plantations along with Teejay Lanka vs. Seylan Bank were abandoned due to bad weather and the bowl-out contest had to be enforced in order to arrive at a result.

Brief results of the quarter finals:

At Darley Road: Power Hands Plantations beat Colombo Dockyard on the bowl out; Colombo Dockyard – 88 (19.4) and Power Hands Plantations 42/03 in 11 overs when rain halted play
At MCA: Teejay Lanka beat Seylan Bank on the bowl out; Teejay Lanka 165/9 (21) and Seylan Bank 48/3 in 6 overs when rain halted play
At Colombo Campus Grounds: HNB Finance beat Abans Group by 158 runs; HNB Finance 224/9 (40) and Abans Group 66 (23)
At MCA: Central Finance beat Peoples Leasing by 5 wickets; Peoples Leasing 157/09 (40) and Central Finance 158/5 (34.2)

The Semi Finals will be played on Sunday 19 January as follows:

Teejay Lanka vs. Power Hands Plantations at MCA; HNB Finance vs. Central Finance at Thurstan College Grounds.
