The 18th DPGC Challenge Trophy – MCA ‘E’ division 25-Over League Tournament 2020 will get back on rails this weekend, 15 and 16 August.
The tournament which got off to a start with 24 teams in four groups on 22 February, stopped on its tracks due to the ongoing pandemic on 14 March after completing 42-half day matches out of a total of 75 matches.
The new position of the tournament is that five teams namely, Ceylon Tobacco (from Group A), Brandix Essentials ‘B,’ MAS Active and Trelleborg Lanka (from Group ‘C’) and Prym Intimates (from Group ‘D’) has withdrawn from the tournament.
At the completion of the said 42 matches, unbeaten, Virtusa heads group ‘A’, 3DH International heads group ‘B,’ unbeaten Ceylinco General Insurance heads group ‘C’ and unbeaten Akbar Bros. heads group ‘D’.

MCA/afternoon: Std. Chartered Vs. Allianz Insurance
DSS/morning: Amana Bank Vs. Virtusa
DSS/afternoon: UB Finance Vs. Lion Brewery
Mattegoda /morning: Akbar Bros Vs. Fairfirst Insurance
Mattegoda/afternoon: HSBC “A” Vs. Softlogic Finance.
Sunday, 16 August/five matches
MCA/morning: Commercial Leasing Vs. Fairfirst Insurance
MCA/afternoon: Akbar Bros Vs. HSBC “A”
DSS/morning: Stafford Motors Vs. 3DH International
DSS/afternoon: Eagle Logistics Vs. Emerchemie NB
Mattegoda/morning: Virtusa Vs. LOLC
As the above 11 matches are completed, the league stage of the tournament will be concluded.
The second stage of the tournament, the ‘Knock-out,’ with the top 16 teams (pre QF, QF, SF and Final) will commence on 22 August and will conclude with the final on 12 September.
