MCA “E” division 25 over League Tournament advances to quarter finals stage

• Ceylinco General Insurance, Teejay Lanka, Expolanka Holdings, MAS Silueta, Amana Takaful, George Steuart Health, Abans Group and Brandix Essentials qualify

The league stage of the 21st David Pieris Group of Companies sponsored, “DPGC” Challenge Trophy – MCA “E” division 25 over League Tournament 2024, came to a conclusion last weekend.

Eighteen teams in 3 groups participated, consisting of 45 league matches, which commenced on 3 December 2023.

The following 8 teams advanced to the Quarter Finals:

Unbeaten, Amana Takaful along with Expolanka Holdings and Brandix Essentials from Group “A” 

Unbeaten, Abans Group, along with George Steuart Health and Teejay Lanka from Group “B”

Unbeaten, Ceylinco General Insurance, along with MAS Silueta from Group “C”

Thurstan /morning – Ceylinco General Insurance beat Commercial Credit by 144 runs; Ceylinco – 211/3 (25), Com. Credit – 67 (15.5)

Thurstan /afternoon – Expolanka Holdings beat John Keells “B” by 34 runs: Expolanka – 208 /8 (25), JK “B” – 174/7 (25) 

MCA/morning – Geo. Steuarts Health beat PABC by 204 runs; GSH – 272/8 (25), PABC – 68 (22.5)

MCA /afternoon: Amana Takaful beat Expolanka Holdings by 04 wickets; Expolanka – 134 (23.2), Amana Takaful – 135/6 (18.5)

Moratuwa /morning: MAS Silueta beat Commercial Credit by 06 wkts ; Com. Credit – 209/8 (25),  MAS Silueta – 215/4 (18.3)

Moratuwa / afternoon: Abans Group beat HSBC by 63 runs; Abans – 205/8 (25), HSBC – 132/8 (25)

Darley Road /morning: Slim Pharma beat John Keells “B” by 07 wickets; JK “B” – 191/7 (25), 

Slim Pharma – 194/3 (22.3)

Darley Road / afternoon: Akbar bros. beat Janashakthi Insurance by 89 runs; Akbar Bros – 174/9 (25), Janashakthi – 85 (16.5)

Closing weekend’s best performer was Sashika Yasawardena from MAS Silueta, who hit a belligerent 129 in 53 balls, inclusive of 12 sixes and 10 fours Vs. Commercial Credit.
