MCA “G” Division 25-over League quarter finals this weekend

Ceat Tires International, A. Baur & Co., Waters Edge, Hayleys Group “B”, Nor Lanka, Deutsche Bank AG, Asiri Hospitals & Maliban Biscuits “B” advanced to the Quarter Finals, in the ongoing 9th Stafford Motors–Honda Trophy, MCA “G” Division 25 Over League Tournament 2019, continued last weekend (3-4 August).

Half tons by Sasanka Chandrasena (70) & Eranga Nadeeshan (66) helped Ceat Tyres to a thrilling 06 wicket win, with one ball to spare over Arpico.

A notable performance by Madumadawa Anuruddha (4 for 16) spurred A Baur & Co., to a comfortable 06 wickets win over HNB Finance “B”. 

Opening Batsmen, Yeshan Wickramarachchi (90) & Omesh Gunatillake (50) propelled Waters Edge to a crushing 103 runs win over new comers Ceylon Biscuits.

Hayleys “B” bowlers Tashik Perera (3/13) , Sachinthaka Welagedera (2/07) & Mahesh Sripal (2/09) bamboozled Pearson Lanka who shot out for 73 runs in 23.1 overs; Hayleys “B” shed little sweat to reach 74 for 3 in 16.2 overs. 

Amila Jayawardena (53 not out) and Heshan Rodrigo (43) anchored the batting for Nor Lanka as they beat Interpharm by 44 runs. 

Deutsche Bank AG, riding on a well compiled 67 not out by Yohan Fernando, scored an upset 26 runs win over MAS Silueta “B”.

Asiri Hospitals opening batsman Koshan Jayawickrama hogged the weekend’s lime light, when he carried his bat out after hitting a hurricane 136 not in 80 balls, inclusive of 10 sixes and equal number of fours; Asiri Hospitals after piling up 227 for 3 in 25 overs went in to beat Kelani Cables by 171 runs, being all out for paltry 56 runs in 15.5 overs, having no answer to Shehan Wijesinghe (4/03) & Koshan Jayawickrama (3/13).

Bowlers, Dilanka Sanjeewa (2/10), Dilan Kanishka (2/19) & Suneth Chandima (2/33) helped Maliban “B” to defend their moderate total of 141 in 24.4 overs by getting Lanka Hospitals all out for 118 runs in 24.3 overs.
