The MCA Veterans Over-40 team, under the captaincy of incumbent MCA President Roshan Iddamalgoda, will go all out to regain the glittering Tyrone de Silva Challenge Trophy, which they lost last year to the Lanka Cavaliers at the 15th edition of their annual T20 cricket encounter, coming up this Sunday, 16 September at the Bloomfield C&AC grounds, commencing at 2.00 p.m.
Lanka Cavaliers will be hosting the match this year and they will be led by Nalliah Devarajan.
In the previous encounter that took place on 22 July at the MCA grounds, Lanka Cavaliers, led by Basil Jayawardena, regained the trophy with a comfortable eight-wicket win.
Former MCA President Tyrone de Silva, who donated the trophy during his tenure in 2004, will be the Chief Guest at the awards and fellowship.
The series up to the last encounter stands 8-4 in favour of the MCA Veterans. In 2006 the match ended in a tie and in 2014 both teams were declared joint winners.
