MHA Hockey League 2024: HNB and MAS secure wins

MAS Holdings and HNB secured wins over Browns Group and Commercial Bank respectively in their Mercantile Hockey Association-conducted tournament which concluded at the Sri Lanka Air Force Hockey Complex in Ekala, Ja-Ela recently.

In the ‘A’ Division, MAS Holdings secured a tight 2/1 victory over Browns Group, with goals from Sachith Kulasuriya and Lahiru Samudra, while Ravindu Lakruwan scored for Browns Group. HNB also claimed a 2/1 win against Commercial Bank, with Nimesh Gunathilake and U.S.A. Wijesekera scoring for HNB, and Anju Hewage netting the lone goal for Commercial Bank.

In the ‘B’ Division, John Keells achieved a commanding 3/0 victory over SLT-Mobitel. The goals for John Keells were netted by Lakindu Wijesinghe, Dilan Niroshana, and Neminda Heshan each contributing to the decisive win. Hayleys Group also delivered an impressive performance, defeating HSBC with a final score of 6/2. Manura Jayaweera led the scoring for Hayleys Group with a hat-trick, complemented by goals from Bodika Dias, Indeera Bandara, and Dilan Silva. HSBC’s goals were scored by Tuan Rahim and Dilshan Laheer.

In the ‘C’ Division, Orient Finance edged out NTB with a narrow 3/2 win. Heshan Rangana was pivotal for Orient Finance, scoring twice, while Nuwan Seneviratne added another goal. NTB’s S.C.B.S. Ananda scored both goals for his team. (SJ)
