Madushika excels in Sri Lanka ‘A’s win over UAE

Right-arm slow medium bowler Madushika Meththananda was Sri Lanka ‘A’s match winner in their opening game of the ACC Women’s Emerging Team Cup against UAE which they won by three wickets with a ball to spare at Mong Kok, Hong Kong yesterday.

Madushika took four wickets for 16 runs to rout UAE for 95 in 19.3 overs, and then scored the winning run as Sri Lanka ‘A’ passed the total in a tight chase. Madushika was supported by spinners Malsha Shehani and Nimasha Meepage who shared four wickets between them.

All-rounder Esha Oza of UAE was the top scorer in the match with 39 off 30 balls (2 fours, 2 sixes). Opener Vishmi Gunaratne made 21 off 32 balls (1 four) for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ Women play Bangladesh ‘A’ Women on Wednesday in their next match.
