Sri Lanka, beaten by nine wickets in the one-off U19 youth test, bounced back to beat Pakistan by 58 runs in the first U19 ODI played at Karachi to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Match winner for Sri Lanka was opening bat Pulindu Perera who scored a magnificent 156 off 96 balls (17 fours, 4 sixes) to steer his side to a total of 309.
Pakistan were dismissed for 251 in the 46th over despite Shamyl Hussain (98 off 120 balls, 9 fours) and Arafat Minhas (84 off 73 balls, 11 fours, 1 six) scoring half-centuries.
Seamers Garuka Sanketh (3/42) and Dinura Kalupahana (4/32) were Sri Lanka’s principal wicket-takers.
The second U19 ODI will take place today at the same venue.
