Mahamaya wins at basketball

Mahamaya College, Kandy stamped their class at the recently concluded VAAJ Trophy 2021, 3x3 basketball tournament organised by the Kandy District Basketball Association (KDBA), which took place at the St. Anthony’s College, Girls court in Kandy.

Mahamaya, Hillwood, Gateway (Kandy), Colombo International School (CIS) and St. Anthony’s girls’ schools participated in this event.

Mahamaya dominated proceedings with wins in the Under-16 A and Under-18 categories becoming champions, while their Under-16 B ended as 2nd runner up. St Anthony’s became the runner up in these two events.

In the women’s open Chithera Samarakoon, Chenuli Warnakulage and Vishmi Karunarathna teamed up to win the event. This group too consisted of all the present girls of Mahamaya, which is a unique record playing against some veteran club players and winning same.
