Former Sri Lanka cricketer Farveez Maharoof has withdrawn from the 10-member independent panel appointed by Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe to submit a draft of the proposed new constitution for Sri Lanka Cricket.
In a Twitter message Maharoof thanked the Sports Minister for releasing him from the panel and said: “I feel my area of expertise is mainly on the technical matters of the game, and not on constitutional matters. As such, I feel that I can make a better contribution on technical matters, not on policy and law.”
Last week the Sports Minister appointed a 10-member panel chaired by retired Supreme Court Judge K.T. Chitrasiri to submit a draft of the proposed new constitution for Sri Lanka Cricket within two months.
Maharoof was one of two former Sri Lanka cricketers who was included in the panel. The other was Charith Senanayake.
