Trinbago Knight Riders have signed up the New Zealand pair of Colin Munro and Tim Seifert, and also Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana and Seekkuge Prasanna as part of their overseas draft for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season starting 31 August.

They will be joined by USA’s Ali Khan, who will spend another year with Knight Riders, having first joined them in 2017.

“We are very happy with our overseas signings this year. The idea was to maintain the core of the team, while adding a few new resources to bolster the squad for CPL 2022,” Knight Riders Director Venky Mysore said.

Like Ali, all three of Munro, Seifert and Prasanna have represented Knight Riders in the past. Munro has been playing for them since 2016, and is their leading overseas run-getter in the tournament with 2020 runs in 65 matches.

Theekshana, who is yet to play in the CPL, comes in after impressive performances in both franchise and international cricket. He played for Jaffna Kings in LPL 2020 only once but grabbed 16 wickets at an economy rate of 6.87 for them in ten games the following year. That came on the back of his success with Delhi Bulls in the Abu Dhabi T10 earlier in 2021, whom he led to victory with a Player-of-the-Match performance of 3 for 14 in the final.

Later in 2021, Theekshana also made his Sri Lanka debut across the white-ball formats during the home series against South Africa. That followed a maiden IPL stint with Chennai Super Kings in 2022, for whom he took 12 wickets in nine matches.

Knight Riders had earlier this year secured the services of veteran allrounder Andre Russell, who will be teaming up with Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine and Nicholas Pooran at the franchise. Knight Riders have another five slots to be filled to complete their roster for this season, with CPL set to get underway with the first match between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Jamaica Tallawahs in Basseterre on 31 August.
