Former Sri Lanka Captain Mahela Jayawardene’s name has been tagged to take over the position as head coach of India’s national cricket team.

The Times of India reported that Gautam Gambir (Coach of Kolkata Knight Riders), Justin Langer (Coach of Lucknow SuperGiants) and Mahela Jayawardene (global performance head of Mumbai Indians) have got the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) interested.

The job to find the new Head Coach for the senior men’s team seems to have become more challenging for the BCCI than it was first thought to be, said the newspaper.

The BCCI has kept its options open even as the deadline for applications is less than a week away.
