Former Test cricketer and Indian Premier League Mumbai Indians Head Coach Mahela Jayawardena will be the consultant for the Under-19 national cricketers from October onwards.
Mahela will be focusing on the outfit for the ICC Youth Cricket World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies in February 2022. The initial squad of 75 players are in Central Hills preparing for the provincial encounters between the five selected teams. A pool of 30 players will be selected after the trial games, which will conclude on 1 August. They will play in the Asia Cup during September in the UAE. (SJ)
