Major Club 3-day league Play in only two matches on rain affected first day

There was play in only two of the ten Major Club 3-day league matches which was scheduled to commence yesterday.

Bad weather throughout the day affected the rest of the matches without a ball bowled.

At the Galle Cricket Stadium play was possible for 56 overs and during that period BRC invited to bat first by Galle CC scored 174-3 with all round contributions from the top order Leo Fransisco (39), Abishek Raman (38), Risira Weerasuriya (30*) and Dulash Udayanga (48*). Right-arm seamer Sahan Adeesha took two of the wickets.

At BOI Katunayake, Negombo CC did well to dismiss Kandy Customs CC for 117, but found themselves in trouble at 67-5 by the close to trail by 50 runs in the first innings. Sahan Kosala top scored for Kandy Customs CC with 51. All matches will continue on the second day today weather permitting. – (ST)
