Malay CC emerge SLC Tier ‘B’ T20 champions

Tier ‘B’ T20 champions Malay CC


Malay CC, led by Sudara Dakshina, won the SLC Tier ‘B’ T20 title, beating Sri Lanka Army SC by five wickets in the final played at the Air Force Ground Katunayake.

Invited to bat first, Army SC scored 150-6 courtesy a 70-run stand between Harshajith Rushan (57 off 47 balls, 5 fours, 1 six) and skipper Shehada Zoysa (40 off 30 balls, 2 fours, 2 sixes).

Malay CC were put on course for victory by Kavinda Ishwara (61 off 46 balls, 4 fours, 5 sixes) and Buddhika Madushan (48 off 37 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) who put on 102 runs off 70 balls for the second wicket that saw them win with an over to spare.

As champions, Malay CC received a cheque for Rs. 750,000, while Sri Lanka Army SC received Rs. 500,000 as runner-up.

Individual awards included Player of the Final (Rs. 100,000) – Kavinda Ishwara (Malay CC), Player of the Tournament (Rs. 300,000) – Chatura Peiris (Old Dharmapalians SC), Best Batsman of the Tournament (Rs. 200,000) – Kalana Madushanka (Malay CC), and Best Bowler of the Tournament (Rs. 200,000) – Gayan Chandrabose (SL Army SC).

The awards were presented by Tournament Committee Secretary Kasun Fernando.
