Off-spinner Lakshitha Manasinghe took five wickets for 82 runs to spin out Australia ‘A’ for 254 on the second day of the second 4-day unofficial test at Hambantota yesterday.
Manasinghe bowling in tandem with leg-spinner Suminda Lakshan (2/67) and left-arm pacie Dilshan Madushanka (3/43) gave Sri Lanka ‘A’ a vital first innings lead of 86 which they stretched to 103 by stumps losing two wickets for 27.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ who trail 1-0 in the two-match series closed their first innings at their overnight score of 330-9.
Top scorer for the tourists was wicket-keeper/batsman from New South Wales, Jimmy Peirson with an unbeaten 67 off 112 balls (3 fours).
The match continues on its third day today.
