March Ranking Tournament tees off today

The Sri Lanka Golf (SLG) March Ranking Tournament will tee off from today (4 March) till 7 March at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).

This four-day tournament has already attracted 35 entries, and there will be a cut after the second day’s play, where only the top 15 will progress to round three and four.

A new tournament, the Junior Ranking Tournament, co-sponsored by Pro Golf, will be held on 6 and 7 March at the RCGC. Six junior ranking tournaments will be conducted this year to give junior golfers more tournament opportunities in addition to the four existing tournaments which SLG conducts.

The Junior Ranking Tournament is a two-round tournament and is open to players below 21 years of age. Last month’s winner Adhithya Weerasinghe will be participating in this month’s tournament, together with Thejas Rathiskanth, another promising junior golfer. In the girls’ event, Sithara Lorence, last month’s overall winner, will be playing in the March Ranking Tournament, together with Keya Abhayaratne. In total, 17 boys and six girls will be vying for honours at this month’s Junior Ranking Tournament.
