Mastercard to prop up with Kandy SC as Title Sponsor

Defending League champions Kandy Sports Club will have Mastercard, Global technology company in the payments and commerce industry, appointed as the Title and Payment Sponsor of the Up-Country club.

Mastercard will act as Title Sponsor alongside Cargills Ceylon PLC who are the Premier Sponsor of the champion outfit Kandy SC since 2013.

Kandy SC President Mahesh Weerasinghe speaking to Daily FT said: “We are elated to have such a globally sought-after company sponsoring the team. We are confident that this will drive new found confidents and visibility for the team.”

Mastercard Country Manager of Sri Lanka and Maldives Sandun Hapugosa said: “The prestige and legacy with surrounds the Kandy Sports Club needs no introduction to Sri Lankans and acting as a title Sponsor for the club is in line with Mastercards global efforts to support sports such as Rugby.”

Mastercard also sponsors Women in Rugby, Rugby World Cup 2021 and 2023 respectively.

Kandy SC will be field a young outfit led by Damith Dissanayake and coached by Fazil Marija and the season will start in early December 2022.
