Matale Thomians and Joseph Vaz share Under-18 schools hockey title

Both Matale Thomians and Joseph Vaz Wennapuwa became joint champions at the All Island Schools Under-18 Hockey Tournament 2023 which concluded at the Elbert F. Peiris Stadium in Wennappuwa recently. Zahira College Matale took third place in this event.

Meanwhile, Vidyartha College and Maristella College ended as the joint champions in the Plate segment. Girls’ event was won by Hometown Heroes, Holy Family Convent, Wennappuwa, with Sangamitta Matale ending up as the runner-up.

This event was organised by Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association, Joseph Vaz, HFC Wennappuwa and Wennappuwa Hockey Association. Twenty-four boys teams in A division, eleven teams in the B division among the boys participated in this tournament, while there were 20 girls’ teams added to this colourful annual event.
