Angelo Mathews is set to miss Sri Lanka’s ODI against Bangladesh later today after picking up yet another hamstring strain during Sri Lanka’s loss to Zimbabwe on Wednesday.
According to an SLC release Mathews was “being treated for right hamstring tightness”, though the extent of the injury will only be known later today.
There is thought to be a concern that Mathews might miss more than just the one game, which if it happens will lead to a vacancy in the captaincy position of the limited overs setup. Dinesh Chandimal is believed to be the likely candidate, though there is an outside chance of Thisara Perera returning to the role he had relinquished following the tour of India.
