Amarasinghe is no stranger to the country’s rugby circles as his father Dammika and his two elder brothers Dinuk and Ruvan all played rugby for the Antonian outfit. In fact, Dinuk currently represents CR&FC and is a Sevens specialist for Sri Lanka.

Amarasinghe was also a very good badminton and basketball player. Under his leadership, the school won the Central Province and All-Island Championship in basketball. He went a step further when he held on to the third rank in badminton for two long years.

Amarasinghe also led the St. Anthony’s rugby team at the Under-12 and Under-14 levels, winning the Central Province Championship in 2015. The same side at the Under 14 level went on to emerge as the all-island champions. This will be his fifth year.

The outfit will operate under the watchful guidance of former Vidyartha, Navy and Sri Lanka player Sumedha Malawana. They will open the season with a game against Royal College at Nittawela.
