Mercantile Rugby Sevens 2022: Kick-off on 23 Sept.

24 Men’s teams and three Ladies’ teams will lock horns in the Mercantile Rugby Sevens 2022 which will be kicked off at CR and FC ground in Longdon Place on 23 and 24 September.

National Rugby Selectors will be kept busy for the two days, plus at the club sevens two weeks later in order to select the initial pool for the Asia Rugby Sevens 2022 which will take place in Thailand, Korea and UAE during October/November 2022.

John Keels Holdings, Dialog Axiata, 3DH International and John Keels Holdings B; all four teams will lock horns in the Cup/Plate segment while in the Ladies event Attune Lanka, Citizens development Business Finance and Sampath Bank will field one team each in their segment.

Meanwhile, in the Bowl/Shield events there will be 18 teams divided in to four groups in the initial stage. Day one will be worked off with the group stages while day two will see the knock out stage in each segment.
