SLT Mobitel will be providing the high-speed data connections for ‹PETRONAS Syntium› Race At Home Championship 2021, the first round of which will be housed at the XStation on 8 August 2021 at 1 p.m.
Enthusiasts could view the races live on YouTube by searching for ‘cmscracechannel’.
e-motorsports is virtual racing on racing simulators (playseats) by using controllers, on tracks specially designed to simulate real racing tracks of tarmac, gravel or dirt in global racing circuits, giving racers the feeling of being actual, real-world, on-track racing drivers.
Ceylon Motor Sports Club was instrumental in conducting the CMSC Mobitel #RaceAtHome Championship 2020, which was specially devised to enable speed-wizards to race from the comfort of their own homes with their own devices.
A mere eight competitors at the beginning grew to around 50 by the end of the year 2020, while Mobitel helped CMSC overcome the greatest challenge — the lack of a stable internet connection — by offering the use of their state-of-the-art XStation with an internet speed of over 100Mbps.
The CMSC kick-started the 2021 championship with a star-studded lineup of competitors, who took part in a qualifier round on 1 August, while the fastest 28 drivers were separated into two classes — top 14 being classified in the ‘Pro’ class while the next 14 into ‘Amateur’ class. The world-renowned game GranTurismo, which is used by the FIA in the World Motor Sport Games, being the preferred global choice, was the platform, played on PlayStation 4 units.
