Half centuries from skipper Pabasara Waduge and Dinuka Dilshan coupled with the bowling of Ayana Siriwardhana and Chaturanga de Silva gave Moors SC their third successive win of the SLC Major T20 inter-club tournament
beating Kurunegala YCC by 39 runs yesterday.
Waduge (64 off 42 balls) and Dilshan (55* off 40 balls) figured in a 91-run second wicket stand that saw Moors SC rattle up a challenging score of 180-5. Kurunegala YCC in reply reached 100-2 by the 14th over which left them needing 81 off the final six overs, a task that proved beyond them as spinners Siriwardhana (3/18) and De Silva (4/23) applied the brakes on their batting to keep them down to a total of 141-8.
A last wicket partnership of 20 between Miranga Wickramage (19*) and Heshan Madushanka (4*) saw Lankan CC pull off a thrilling one-wicket win over Ace Capital CC in a low scoring game. Ace Capital CC managed only 90 off their 20 overs, but fought back strongly to reduce Lankan CC to 71-9 in the 17th over. However, they were denied the win by the last pair who defied 15 balls to get Lankan CC to the target.
Navy SC also experienced a tight finish edging out Kalutara TC by 11 runs. The target of 135 was well within Kalutara TC’s reach when their top order when their top order contributed to take them to 98-2 in 16 overs. With 37 required off the last four overs, the Kalutara TC batting panicked and lost their remaining eight wickets for 25 runs to hand Navy SC a win. Off-spinner Rashmika Dulanjana picking up a career best 3 for 18 in only his second match.
Three matches that began in the afternoon were affected by rain and ended in a No Result.
