Sudarshan Muthuthanthri

The former Thomian, Havies and Sri Lanka cracking flanker and one of the leading performers at CH & FC Sudarshan Muthuthanthri was named as the skipper for their rugby outfit in 2020/2021 which is expected to kick off with two seven a side events in late October 2020.

The 29 year-old Muthu took over the Sevens leadership from Fazil Marija 5 years ago. After playing for the Mount Lavinia Thomians in 2009/2010, he joined the Park Club and played for them. In 2012 under Henry Terrance he was the deputy skipper of the outfit, where they became the league champions. He led Havies in 2013, and took them to runner-up position, a year later to number 3 under his leadership.

Muthu became the first Sri Lankan in 2018 to be selected to play at the Top-level Provincial Rugby tournament in New Zealand, representing the Auckland outfit. Muthu will also have some top class players such as Thilina Wijesinghe, Janidu Dilshan, and Kevin Dixon joining them for this season. Former Thomian skipper and national assistant junior coach Rohitha Rajapaksa is expected to be the Head Coach of the outfit. (SJ)
