NDB Bank’s Chess Team (Men) performed exceptionally well at the recently-concluded Rapid Chess Challenge 2018 organised by 64 Squares Chess academy.
Team NDB was placed Runners-Up in the ‘Mercantile Sector’ category with 13 points – only 0.5 points behind the Winners MAS Holdings. HNB came in third with 11 points. Nuwanka Jayewardene (Katunayake Branch) was awarded the best performance on Board 3 for the tournament.
NDB team was captained by Nuwanka Jayawardane (Katunayake Branch) and included Thimira Uyanhewage (Athurugiriya Branch), Mario Perera (Marketing), Thilina Thushanka (Credit Card Sales Team) and Anuradha Wijerathne (RSU – Kandy).
The NDB Staff Recreational Club encourages the bank’s staff to be a part of various sports and activities including, but not limited to athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, netball, football/rugby and swimming in addition to chess. The bank’s ultimate goal is to ensure employee satisfaction.
