Commercial Credit and Finance inflicted Nations Trust Bank’s first defeat while Morison notched up their first win by beating DFCC Bank at the ongoing maiden National Development Bank (NDB) Trophy MCA ‘C’ Division 50-over League Tournament, which continued over the weekend.

In a match which went right down to the wire, Commercial Credit and Finance pipped Nations Trust Bank by three runs, to remain unbeaten in Group ‘A’ with three wins on the trot. This means that NTB has completed the round robin stage with three wins and one loss. Commercial Credit now has one more game against Morison on 15 February in Moratuwa. 

In another Group ‘A’ match, Morison kept alive their chances of entering the final round when they beat DFCC Bank by four wickets, thus pushing the bankers out of contention for the final round. 

Morison, chasing a total of 242 runs set by DFCC Bank in their 50 overs, earned their first win in an effort spearheaded by centurion Sachin Dewage (112) and half-centurion Heshan Madushanka (59), as they reached 245 for 6 in 48.1 overs.

Sri Lanka Telecom registered two good wins over Commercial Bank (by four wickets) and PABC (by 55 runs)
