NDB will be the Official Team Sponsor of Trinity Rugby for the year 2020 as well as the Official Sponsor for the 76th Bradby Shield encounter which they will play against Royal College.

Addressing the media at a press briefing held in Colombo, NDB Group CEO Dimantha Seneviratne, an Old Royalist, said, “We want to continue this partnership on a long-term basis which will beneficial for both the school and the bank. We will not confine it to rugby football alone but also to give a career in the banking industry for young school leavers from the central hills.”

Both Trinity and Royal have been playing the sport of rugby football against each other since 1920, when the Shield was donated in 1945 by then-Royal Principal E.L. Bradby to the winner of the encounters on the aggregate score. The matches have been continued throughout the years, marking this encounter for the 76th year.

This will be the very first time that NDB Bank has sponsored school sports and they are also the Official Sponsor of the West Indies tour of Sri Lanka currently taking place.

Meanwhile, Watawala Plantations, Shockman and Samarawickreme and Montrela Consultants will be the Co-Sponsors. Polydime, Ceylon Cold Stores (Keels Krest) and Expo Lanka Freight will also join as partners.

Montrela Consultants Managing Director Yusri Abdullah, an alumni of Isipathana, said, “I am very passionate about this game, so it’s an honour to come forward to be part of the growth of this gentlemen’s game. We love Trinity rugby mainly for their discipline and standards. Overall, Trinity plays clean rugby.”
