NOCSL Secretary General injured in attack by thugs

National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka Secretary General Maxwell de Silva was attacked by thugs at his residence in Mutwal yesterday morning and has been hospitalised after sustaining injuries to his hand.

“An unfortunate incident took place. Some people had walked into Maxie’s house and attacked him. During the melee the attackers had sliced Maxie’s hand, damaging his middle and fourth fingers that required surgery,” said NOCSL President Suresh Subramaniam.

“These guys had covered their faces and they had made a statement in Sinhala that Maxie had not helped them. Maxie has been able to identify one of them whose face was not covered. We don’t know the motive of the attack but we have informed the Police.”

De Silva is currently warded at the General Hospital.
