The NSSF 50 Target Trap Open Competition organised and conducted by the National Shooting Sports Federation of Sri Lanka (NSSF), will be held this weekend, 22 and 23 October, at the National Shotgun Range in Payagala, Kalutara.
Almost all affiliated clubs of NSSF have confirmed participation at this two-day meet. The upcoming meet will be treated as a trial event to update the national trap pool for future international events, according to Pradeep Edirisinghe, the General Secretary of NSSF.
The competition will be conducted according to the latest ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) rules and updated local rules with limited supplies of cartridges.
All shooters will be allocated slots to shoot a single round of 25 clays on both days, and competitors who top 18 scores out of the first 25 clays will be detailed to shoot another round of 25 clays.
Events have been categorised as overall, team, youth/junior, open, masters and ladies. Medals and certificates will be awarded to the top winners while the remaining finishers among the top three are guaranteed of silver and bronze medals and certificates in individual events.
Shotgun of NSSF Vice President Mohan Gilbert, will head the panel of officials as the Competition Director of the meet. Shotgun of NSSF Assistant Secretary Dinesh Lionel will provide his expertise as the Assistant Competition Director of the meet. The awards ceremony will take place soon after the completion of the meet under the patronage of NSSF President Shirantha Peries.
