Namal chairs meeting on Sevens Rugby

A meeting between Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Namal Rajapaksa and Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana took place at the Ministry recently. 

The main objective was to conduct the Commanders Cup Rugby in March at Ratmalana. 

Eight teams are expected to take part but the defending league and sevens champions’ participation looks very doubtful due to financial difficulties and no rugby played in the last year at Nittawela. According to a reliable source, if Kandy pulls out the invitation, it would be extended to the Plantation sector team. Sponsors, too, are not yet finalised, so it could be one or more esteemed organisations coming forward.
