Nareshkumar to defend NEGC Captain’s Cup title

Top class golfer Avinesh Nareshkumar will defend his title at the 123rd Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) Captain’s Cup, which will take place from 9 April at the NEGC.

NEGC Foursomes (9 April), Captain’s Cup (10 April), President’s Cup (11 April) and the Aitken Cup (10 and 11 April) will take place at the one of the most beautiful course in the country.

With the Captain’s Cup being played for the 123rd year, the Ladies Cup will also be played simultaneously. This will be the first time that the NEGC Foursome will be played where two golfers will play as a team and the winners will be selected from the pair who obtain the best ‘Stable ford’ score.

The President’s Prize, which was inaugurated in 1984, will see the former Thomian cricketer cum top class golfer Ranil Pieris defending his prize. The Longest Drive and closest-to-the-pin will be given vouchers while there will also be prizes in the Chipping and Putting contest that will be held every afternoon, while the ‘Best Dressed Golfer’ will also receive prizes.

There will be some top class youngsters, Haroon Aslam, Reshan Algama, Musa Sheriff and Kaya Perera, who are expected to perform well.

Dialog will be the principal sponsors with YES FM, while Wurth will come in as 

co-sponsors.
