National, development squads second trials for amateur golfers postponed

The second trials for amateur golfers to make the cut for the national and development squads, which was to take place from 9 August (today) at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC), has been postponed due to the pandemic. The new dates will be notified in due course.

Both Chanaka Perera and Taniya Balasuriya won the first trials which took place at RCGC a few weeks back.

Meanwhile, the youngest in the event, 13-year-old Reshan Algama, showed a lot of promise when he placed 13th with some powerful long shots and good accuracy. Three girls teed off the first leg of the event. Kala Perera, another sensational youngster who missed out the first leg, is tipped to play in the second leg. (SJ)
