National women cricketers felicitated for winning Asia Cup

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) felicitated the victorious national women’s team at a special ceremony held on Monday in Colombo.

Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Harin Fernando took part in the ceremony as the Chief Guest at the invitation of President of SLC Shammi Silva.

International Cricket (SLC) Vice President Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa, Domestic Cricket (SLC) Vice President Ravin Wickramaratne, Assistant Secretary (SLC) Chryshantha Kapuwatte, Treasurer (SLC) Sujeeva Godaliyadda, and SLC CEO Ashley de Silva were among the distinguished guests present at the occasion.

The members of the SLC Executive Committee were also present during the occasion.

During the occasion, Sri Lanka Cricket rewarded the national women’s team with a cash award of $ 500,000, which is equivalent to Rs. 150 million.

 

Women’s Asia Cup champions to tour Ireland

 

Newly crowned Women’s Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka will make a tour of Ireland next month for a white ball series consisting two T20 Internationals and three ODIs against Ireland Women.

The ODIs are part of the ICC Women’s Championship cycle 2022-25. This will be Sri Lanka’s final series in the championships. They currently lie fifth in the table with 20 points.

The team will leave for Ireland on 6 August.
