Nawaloka Hospitals vs. LOLC vie for MCA “C” Division 50 Over League crown

Nawaloka Hospitals PLC, once again led by veteran Samath Ruberu, will make a desperate attempt to get their hands on the glittering “NDB Trophy”, which they missed last year losing to DFCC Bank, as they meet LOLC Holdings PLC in the final of the 4th National Development Bank sponsored-MCA “C” Division 50 Over League Tournament 2024 this Sunday, 29 September at the Bloomfield C&AC Grounds, Reid Avenue, commencing at 9:45 a.m.

The finalists, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC and LOLC Holdings, were not able to assess their strengths and weaknesses, as their league game on 17 July at the MCA Grounds was a complete 

wash out. 

Nawaloka Hospitals PLC – path to the Final

League round – finished on top of the leader board, with 3 wins and 1 no-result; beat David Pieris Group of Companies “A” by 4 wickets beat MAS Unichela by 28 runs and beat Commercial Bank PLC “A” by 27 runs in the DLS method. Their match against LOLC Holdings ended in a no-result due to bad weather.

In the knock-out Semi Finals, they once again beat David Pieris Group of Companies “A” by 42 runs. 

Their top performers were: Thaveesha A. Kahaduwaarachchi (5 innings, 376 runs, inclusive of 5 half centuries), Thiwanka Kekulawala (5 innings, 175 runs inclusive of 2 half centuries and 12 wickets), Lakshan Ruwantha (6 wickets) and Samila Nadeesh (5 wickets). 

LOLC Holdings – path to the Final

League round – Finished 2nd in the leader board with 2 wins and 2 no results, beat Commercial Bank PLC by 117 runs and beat MAS Unichela by 12 runs. Their matches against Nawaloka Hospitals PLC and David Pieris Group of Companies “A” got washed out.

In the knock-out Semi Finals, they once again beat MAS Unichela by 82 runs on the DLS Method 

Their top performers were: Lahiru Attanayake (3 innings, inclusive of 1 half century), Sayuru Udukumbura (6 wickets), Vinod Madushan (6 wickets) and Dhanushka Udara (6 wickets).
