Nestomalt sponsors six National Marathon Champions

Nestlé Lanka’s flagship brand, Nestomalt, presented sponsorships to six National Marathon Champions at an event held recently. 

As a brand that has inspired many Sri Lankan athletes, Nestomalt offered financial assistance, athletic training kits and a year’s worth of Nestomalt to help power the progress of the marathon race winners of the 46th National Sports Festival held in March 2021. 

“For over 35 years, Nestomalt has been part of Sri Lanka’s biggest marathons, with the purpose of powering talented athletes’ ambitions and creating platforms to showcase their skills at a national and international level. 

“In these turbulent times, we are glad to sponsor six of Sri Lanka’s Marathon Champions, to help them be 100% ready in mind and body for upcoming competitions. We hope our support would encourage more young athletes to continue their training and have successful careers in the marathon sport,” Nestlé Lanka Vice President – Dairy Ruwan Welikala.

The event was held at the National Institute of Sports Science, with the participation of Ministry of Youth and Sports Secretary Anuradha Wijekoon, Department of Sports Director General Amal Edirisuriya and National Institute of Sports Science Director Sajith Jayalal.  Recipients of the sponsorship were; Muththusami Sivarajan (Sri Lanka Air Force), Velu Krishanthani (Sri Lanka Navy), Thissa Gunasekara (Sri Lanka Army), Madhushani Herath (Sri Lanka Army), Sisira Kumara (Sri Lanka Navy) and Samanthika Liyanage (Sri Lanka Army).
