Former Trinity, CR & FC and national sevens player, Nigel Ratwatte will lead Kandy Sports Club during 2019/2020 rugby season. His appointment will be made at the Club Annual General Meeting (AGM) shortly.
The 29 year old, Nigel started his junior rugby career at Trinity College where he led the Under 13 outfit before moving to Mauritius with his parents. Nigel played competitive rugby at St. Nicholas’ Grammar School and at the Black River Rugby Club. In 2007 he was selected to represent the national under-18 team (Mauritius) for a tour of Madagascar. He was later selected to play for the Mauritius national team at the age of 18 years. Later he shifted to South Africa and played schools rugby.
After returning to Sri Lanka he represented CR & FC and Up Country ‘Lions’ for three years before returning to his home town in Kandy to play for the champion club.
In 2012 he made his international debut with the national outfit at the Asian sevens. He is a play maker at the Kandy Sports Club since 2012.
