Former Trinitian, CR&FC, Up Country player and present Kandy SC playmaker Nigel Ratwatte was appointed as their rugby skipper for 2019/2020 taking over from Richard Dharmapala at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) which took place at their Nittawela Club House yesterday.

Nigel represented Trinity College at junior level before leaving to Mauritius and later ended his education in South Africa. He played rugby at school level in both countries. After returning to Sri Lanka he represented the Up Country Lions and CR&FC before crossing over to his hometown club. He was an automatic choice for the sevens outfit. Meanwhile Mahesh Weerasinghe will continue to head the Club as a President for 2019/2020 as well. Kandy is once again fortunate to get the support from Malik Samarawickrema as his Patron.

Malik represented Royal, CR&FC and headed the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) in the 90’s. Kandy SC will be defending the league while the pulled out of the Clifford Cup last year due to dispute in the venue.
