NOC Gender Equity Committee Chair Niloo Jayatilake

Sri Lanka National Olympic Committee (NOC) Gender Equity Committee Chair Niloo Jayatilake will represent South Asia as an Executive Board member of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). She was unanimously approved to this position at the 90th OCA Executive Board meeting held virtually on 26 November.
Speaking to the Daily FT, she said: “I am both honoured and humbled to have been elected as an Executive Board member of the OCA. I am committed to contributing my experience, expertise, and passion for advancement of sports and the Olympic movement in Asia,” Jayatilake told the OCA.
“I understand the importance of the OCA in fostering the values of Olympism, promoting fair competition, and ensuring the sustainable development of sports across Asia.”
She concluded, saying: “I am eager to collaborate with fellow Board members and work towards strengthening the OCA’s mission of inspiring youth, advancing athletic excellence, and fostering unity among the Asian Olympic family,” she added.
Jayatilake was elected the first female Vice President of the Sri Lanka NOC in 2022 and has represented the island-nation in golf. She currently serves as a Council Member of Sri Lanka Golf and is also the Chair of the Junior Golf Development Committee. She has been Chair of the NOC’s Gender Equity Committee for the past five years and played a key role in developing the Safe Sport policy in
Sri Lanka.
