Nippon Paint and SLT Mobitel have come on board as title sponsor and co-sponsor respectively to power ‘Nippon Paint Katukurunda Speed 2022’ organised and conducted by the Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS) the governing body for motorsports in Sri Lanka together with the 10 member clubs of SLAS. The event will roar off at the Sri Lanka Air Force tarmac at Katukurunda on Sunday.
129 aspirant drivers are set to vie for a podium finish in 10 motor car events
1. SLN Cars up to 1300cc - Ford Laser/ Mazda 323 (8 laps)
2. SLE Cars up to 1000cc - One make Nissan March (8 laps)
3. SLH Cars up to 1600cc - One make Honda Race 1 (10 laps)
4. SLA Mini 7 (8 laps)
5. SLN Cars up to 1500cc - Ford Laser / Mazda 323 (8 laps)
6. SL GT Cars up to 3500cc - Race 1 (10 laps)
7. SLH Cars up to 2000cc One Make - Subaru Legacy (8 laps)
8. SLE Cars up to 1300cc Ford Laser/Mazda 323 (8 laps)
9. SLA Cars up to 1050cc (8 laps)
10. SL H Cars up to 1600cc One Make - Honda Race 2 (10 laps)
11. Formula McLarens 1300cc (8 laps)
12. SL GT Cars up to 3500cc - Race 2 (10 laps)
In addition to Nippon Paint and SLT Mobitel, Exide, Wurth Lanka, Pink Auto Shop, Lockheed, DuLuck and Freelan Industries have come in as supporting sponsors while How To Drive as the recovery partner, Ranparh Creations as the printing partner, Tudo.LK as the digital partner, Glen Tech as the QR partner and MSN as the media partner have come forward to make Nippon Paints Katukurunda Speed 2022 a reality. SLAS pledged to donate Rs. 1 million from the proceeds of the race to the Indira Cancer Trust to highlight the importance of early detection, palliative care and other aspects of cancer treatment and patient care.
The SLAS President handed over the pledge to ICT Trustee and Chairperson Dr. Lanka Jayasuriya Dissanayake in the presence of ICT Brand Ambassador and Trustee Roshan Mahanama and the media.
The sponsorship cheques were handed over to SLAS President Ashshar Hameem, SLAS Secretary Shehan de Tisera and SLAS Treasurer Upulwan Serasinghe at a media briefing held at Olympic House.
