Former Sri Lanka Under-19 World Cup skipper Nipun Dananjaya and white ball all-rounder Dhananjaya Lakshan were made captains of the four-day and T20 teams respectively of the Sri Lanka Emerging side due to leave for England on 1 May to play a series of matches against their English counterparts.
Dananjaya will lead the Emerging side in the three four-day matches and Lakshan in the three T20 games against England Lions.
The squad is a young blend of players who have performed well in the recent domestic matches the National Super League 4-day and limited overs and the Major Club Emerging 3-day competitions. Most of the players who have made it to the 18 took part in the recently concluded U19-World Cup in the West Indies that includes the Sri Lanka U-19 World Cup captain Dunith Wellalage.
Fast bowler Kalana Perera who was selected to go on the tour failed the fitness test and has been replaced by Yasiru Rodrigo.
