Nuwanidu Fernando, the younger brother of Sri Lanka Test fast bowler Vishwa Fernando hit a sparkling unbeaten century to help Sri Lanka Cricket Development XI end their six-match tour of England with a win over Gloucestershire by 67 runs in the T20 fixture played at Bristol on Sunday.
Winning the toss and batting first, SLC Development XI powered by Fernando’s 67-ball knock of 126* (14 fours, 4 sixes) ran up a challenging total of 205-4.
Fernando in company with Nipun Dananjaya (31) added 80 for the second wicket following an opening partnership of 47 with Nishan Madushka (20).
In reply Gloucestershire were dismissed for 138 in the 17th over with seamers Nipun Ransika and skipper Dhananjaya Lakshan doing the main damage with six wickets between them.
SLC Development XI’s tour of the UK saw them draw the three first-class matches and win one and lose two of the T20 matches.
