Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) won the third edition of their annual Victoria Gregory Golf Derby which took place at the picturesque fairways of the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club recently.
Some leading golfers from both Victoria and Nuwara Eliya teed off with some exhibition of fine golf on the day.
NEGC Ladies team, led by Jane Hong pulled off a fine win as they secured 4 out of the 5 matches which they played. Manori Jayakody played some outstanding Golf to beat Arika Wickramesingha 6/5.
Dr. Janaka Gallangoda and Mohamed Fazeel recorded the most convincing win for NEGC as they won with a margin of 9/7. VGCR Captain, Thusith Wijesinghe and Chandana Weerasinghe secured the best winning margin for VGCR. Meanwhile a major upset was created by Dilan Polonowita and Samitha Perera representing NEGC winning against the much fancied opponents Avinesh Nareshkumar and Sathis Balasubramanium. NEGC was led by Sudath Kumara and won the annual event by beating VGCR by 10/5.
