On Saturday 23 September, Chatham Luxury Watches brought The OMEGA Trophy back to the fairways of the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) for the 2nd edition of the highly-anticipated competition. Both competitors and golf enthusiasts alike celebrated the tournament’s return to the rolling greens of the country – following a 4-year Covid hiatus – with a day filled with entertainment, camaraderie, and of course, top-tier competitive golf.
OMEGA is a name long established with luxury timepieces, but also in association with sport – golf in particular aligned with the brand’s philosophy of precision and distinguished history. As title sponsor of the prestigious OMEGA Masters and a timepiece of choice for some of the game’s biggest hitters, it was only inevitable that Chatham Luxury Watches – an authorised dealer for OMEGA in Sri Lanka – would bring together the luxury brand and the country’s most esteemed golf club to create a world-class golf tournament.
This year, a total of 138 participants took part in the OMEGA Trophy, making up 46 teams playing in the 3-person Texas scramble format.
All teams were vying for the top prize: an all-expenses-paid trip for the winning team of three to watch the OMEGA European Masters 2024 in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, with the added incentive of the opportunity to play at the 9-hole Jack Nicklaus golf course.
Eventually, the euphoric winning team comprised Ranil Pathirana, Rathven de Livera and Suranga Palliaguruge. 1st Runners up were Anusha Senadhira, Sachin de Silva and Sharon Fernando, and 2nd Runners up were W.A.K. Fernando, Mahela Jayawardane and Kapila Dandeniya. Additionally, the award for Longest Drive (Men) went to Mahela Jayawardane, and Longest Drive (Women) to Shyanika Fernanado.
All awards were meted out by Hirdaramani Group Director Mahesh Hirdaramani and Chatham Luxury CEO Indrajith Ranawana to the winners and runners-up, while Golf Club Captain Dr. Rohitha Silva presented the awards for the longest drive men and women, after which the truly memorable golf-packed day came to a close with cocktails.OMEGA is represented in Sri Lanka by Chatham Luxury Watches – Sri Lanka’s first multi-brand luxury watch retailer. Reputed as the home of Colombo’s finest selection of designer Swiss watches, customers can shop the brand’s extensive collection of timepieces at its boutiques located in Galle Face Court and One Galle Face.
