‘One World One Family Cup’ shines with international legends including Sri Lankans

The ‘One World One Family Cup’ organised by the Sri Madhusudan Sai Global Humanitarian Mission was held at Sathya Sai village, Muddenahalli (located closer to Bangalore International Airport) recently with the participation of cricket legends from seven nations.

Two teams (One World and One Family), consisting of legendary cricketers, competed against each other with comradeship during this T20 game. The One World team was led by “Little Master Blaster,” Sachin Tendulkar, and the One Family team was led by “The Pied Piper of Punjab,” Yuvraj Singh.

Sri Lankan legends Romesh Kaluwitharana aka “little Kalu”, Muttiah Muralitharan aka ‘Motor Mouth’, and Chaminda Vass aka ‘Vasy’ played for the “Team One Family” squad, and Upul Tharanga and Ajantha Mendis played for “Team One World.”

During this friendly match, Team One Family batted first and scored 180/6, and Team One World marked the victory in 19.5 overs as 184/6. The most runs scored during the game were by legend Alviro Perterson with 74 runs, and the most wicket-taker was Sri Lankan legend Chaminda Vass with 3/46.

Other than teams played by legends, Dr. Sunil Gavaskar and Sri Lanka legend Mad Max, aka Aravinda de Silva, also graced the event with BCCI President Roger Binny and Krishnamachari Srikkanth.

The Global Humanitarian Mission of Sri Madhusudan Sai focuses on the causes of nutrition, education, and healthcare for the needy across more than 30 countries, and a friendly cricket encounter was organised to show the elements, including the power of unity and the strength of shared humanity, followed by the feeling of collective social responsibility.
