Only 8.3 overs were possible on the first day of Sri Lanka’s two-day practice match of their tour of Bangladesh against a Bangladesh Cricket Board XI at Savar yesterday.
When rain washed out play for the rest of the day Sri Lanka won the toss and batting first were 14 for the loss of skipper Dimuth Karunaratne’s wicket for two.
The Lankan skipper returning from a short stint with English county club Yorkshire lasted 18 balls before edging a catch behind the wicket.
Oshada Fernando (7*) and Kusal Mendis (5*) were at the wickets when stumps were drawn for the day.
This is Sri Lanka’s only practice match before the start of the two-Test series against Bangladesh on 15 May at Chattogram.
